The founding History of Android:
Android is founded by the company Android Inc. was founded in Palo Alto, California. Ithas four founders named were Rich Miner, Nick Sears, Chris White and Andy Rubin. At the time of first day of Android Rich Miner said that company will develop “smarter mobile devices that are more aware of its owner’s location and preferences.”
The Android logo:
The logo of Android OSis looks like it is a combination of a robot and a green bug, which is created by Irina Blok while she was employed by the giant Google. In interview with New York time 2013: Blok said that the only direction which given to her was to make a logo look like a robot. She admits that the final design was developed by “Men” and “Women”.
Android 1.5 Cupcake
The first version of Android is 1.5 named as Cupcake officially released in year 2009 in month of April. It comes with little bit changes and some extra advanced feature in this feature. Some of smartphones are released with 1.5 Cupcake was HTC Hero, Samsung Galaxy phone.
Android 1.6 Donut
After the launch of 1.5 Android version Google instantly launched 1.6 which named as Donut officially released in 2009 after 3 months of 1.5 version launched. This new version of android come with new CDMA based network which help phone to carries around the world anywhere. Some of other features includes Quick search box, quick toggling with between camera, camcorder and gallery, others are GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Smartphone come with Donut installed are ill-fated Dell Streak which come with 5 inches of screen at that time.
Android 2.0-2.1 Eclair
After the launch of Android version 1 Google launch Android Version 2.0 of the operating system with named as Eclair. This Android version is come with Text to Speech support with live wallpaper for the first time in that time, multiple account support, Maps, Navigation and among other features. The smartphone which come with this device was Motorola Droid which is sold by Verizon Wireless.
Android 2.2 Froyo
Android Froyo (2.2) was officially launched in May 2010; it’s named as Frozen Yogurts and gets the combo of these two names as Froyo. This android version is come with mobile hotspot function for the first time in that time with push notification via Android Cloud to Device Messaging (C2DM) service, and with flash support. The first smartphone come with this android version was Google Nexus One.
Android 2.3 Gingerbread
Gingerbread 2.3 android version originally released after the 5 month of the launch of Froyo. It’s the oldest version of OS that Google has still in its monthly platform update package. In this version Google added some new and cool feature in it like NFC, which act faster than Bluetooth to transfer the files. The first phone at that time which come with both Gingerbread and NFC was Nexus S which is made by Google and Samsung in partnership. It also come with multiple front and back camera for video chat and for selfie.
Android 3.0 Honeycomb
This android version is made for the large screen mobiles and for tablets which have large display, originally release in Feb of 2011 with Motorola Xoom tablet which include features like redesigned UI for large display screens with notification bar placed on the bottom of the device display. This android version named as Honeycomb with some extra specs at the time.
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
Android 4.0 released in Oct. 2011, named as Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android brings a number of new features for users. It merges many of new along with previous best features of the tablet-only. Honeycomb version comes with the smartphone-oriented Gingerbread. It also included a “favorite’s tray” on the home screen, with first time camera lock feature in it.
Android 4.1-4.3 Jelly Bean
The Jelly Bean modern era of Android begins in June 2012 with the release of Android 4.1. Google quickly released versions 4.2 and 4.3, both under the Jelly Bean label, in Oct. 2012 and July 2013 respectively.
It comes with the advanced feature in software updates included new notification features that showed more content or action buttons, with full support for the Android version of Google’s Chrome web browser, which was included in Android 4.2.
Android 4.4 KitKat
The new version of android 4.4 named as KitKat a piece of candy. It originally launch in 2013 Sept. this new version of Android didn’t come with new features but it just has ability to run 512 RAM smartphones. Which helps the smartphone maker to add the latest version of android and sell it on much cheaper rates.This first mobile to use this new android version was Nexus 5, a Google smartphone.
Android 5.0 Lollipop
Android 5.0 named as Lollipop, which was originally released in fall 2014. This is the version of OS which used by Google new Material Design Language among some UI changes to get better and simple look. It also include revamped navigation bar and notification for lock screen too and many other cool features.
Google Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 was the first device to get the android 5.0 in it.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow
Marshmallow named for the android 6.0, which originally released in year of 2015. Google want to show Macadamia Nut Cookie to describe 6.0 before to get it official name Marshmallow. This version come with extra cool feature like fingerprint lock, USB Type-C support with Android Pay and many others.
First device to use this android version was Nexus6P and 5X along with new Pixel C tablet at that time
Android 7.0 Nougat
7.0 also called Nougat, officially launched in fall 2016, before the release of Nougat; Android N was referred to internally by the Google as New York Cheesecake. Nougat come with many new features like better multiple tasking functions, split screen mode and also a quick switching between apps.
Google made a big change in new Nougat\, like switching to a new JIT compiler to speed up apps, supported the Vulkan API for faster 3D rendering, and enabled OEMs to support its Day-Dream Virtual Reality platform.
Smartphone which come with Android Nougat was The Pixel and Pixel Xl along with LG V20.
Android 8.0 Oreo
Android Oreo 8.0 was originally released in March 2017; Google officially announced the first developer preview for Android O, which is also known as Android 8.0. Before that release, Hiroshi Lockheimer, the senior vice president of Android at Google, uploaded a GIF of an Oreo cake on his Twitter account in February 2017.
Android Oreo come with number of changes in its visual, native support for picture in picture mode, notification channels and autofil APIs for great management password and autofil data
Android Oreo was first used in Nexus and Pixel devices. Android Oreo will certainly also come installed out of the box with Google’s own Pixel 2 models, which are expected to be released in October.
