Qualcomm announces the world’s first 5G test on a smartphone:
News come from Qualcomm, company announced yesterday that it has successfully conducted the world’s first test of a 5G connection on a mobile device. The test held in the manufacturer’s labs in San Diego and was unveiled during the 4G / 5G Summit, which held in Hong Kong this week.
The test appersafter one year from the manufacturer announced its Snapdragon X50 5G NR chipset. According to the company, X50 has achieved speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second, which is superior to the speed when compared to the 4G LTE wireless networks that are used by today’s smartphones.
Cristiano Amon, executive vice president of Qualcomm Technologies, present the benchmark design for 5G smartphones, which will bes used for handset which is in being testing over the next two years. The handset displayed by the company, which has a design similar to the latest smartphones, with infinite screen.
Amon said that “This milestone and our design benchmark for a 5G smartphone shows how Qualcomm Technologies is driving 5G NR mobile devices to enhance the mobile broadband experience for consumers around the world”.
Company promise that it will commercialy soon when 5G smartphone will hit the market to began selling, expected in mid of 2019. Cristano Amon statement “We are moving from this time between the ‘Gs’ and into this new 5G era. We have a lot of work going forward, but it’s one of the most exciting opportunities we’ve ever had in the mobile industry”.
