Huawei Notebook brings hidden webcam to paranoid on duty:
Huawei product Matebook XPro, present to launch this week during the MWC 2018 in Barcelona, is what happens when designers summarize the Microsoft Surface Book line to the essential features, adding a bit of paranoia on top for an extra taste.
New laptop has a 13.9-inch screen with a resolution of 3,000X2,000 pixels, the laptop will be available to purchase in three different configurations , with prices starting at 1,500 euros – the new laptop will reaches the market in the second quarter of the year.
Company installed three features which differentiate the Matebook X Pro from its rivals. First, Huawei is offering discrete graphics cards in a 14.6mm thick format – not as thin as an Ultrabook, but less thick than Surface Book 2, for example. Huawei also achieved a “screen-to-body” ratio of 91%, which helps to reduce display edges. But this design came with a price: the manufacturer removed the webcam from the top of the screen and placed it under a key on the keyboard.
Company placed a camera of 1MB in between the keyboard that why it named as hidden camera, there is a kind of secret compartment under one of the function keys, hiding a tiny 1MB webcam. When you need to, just push the button up and use the camera. However, most people know that a camera from the bottom up will not get very interesting angles, so maybe the company will rethink that for next year.
Huawei will sell the Matebook X Pro in three different configurations:
– Core i5 chip, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD NVMe: 1,499 euros
– Core i5 chip, 8GB of RAM, 512GB SSD NVD: 1,699 euros
– Core i7 chip, 16GB of RAM, 512GB SSD NVD: 1,899 euros
For comparison, a Surface Book 2 with a Core i7 CPU, 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD comes out for $ 2,500.

In this new product Huawei is also making standard a discrete graphics card. The MX150 is in fact an entry-level chip that Nvidia which is introduced in the middle of 2017. Although it does not come close to the rival options of Surface Book 2 discrete boards like the GTX 1050 and 1060, it’s a step up from normal boards that are usually found in these notebooks.
It also include a set of four speakers with Dolby Atmos, which the company promises that will deliver great audio for end-users and professionals, battery life of up to 12 hours for video playback and 15 hours for web browsing estimated, and keyboard proof of water splashes.
