With data center and IoT on the rise, Intel closes vigorous quarter:
Increased in the competition in the major markets for PCs chips & corporate servers increase its profit and revenue in end of this year 2017. The totaled net profit of chip-maker is US $ 4.5 billion in the period, a 34% increase compared to the US $ 3.3 billion recorded between July and September of the previous year. Revenue also rose 2.5% to $ 16.1 billion from $ 15.7 billion in 2016.
It is boosted by the data center unit, which includes sales of server chips for use in cloud computing, which recorded a 7% increase in revenue, accounting for $ 4.9 billion, although the largest revenue growth was of semiconductor units for Internet of Things (IoT) and non-volatile memory, which increased 23% and 37%, respectively, to $ 849 million and $ 891 million. This trend was also seen in the programmable chip division, widely used in mobile towers and other industry applications, which grew 10 percent to $ 469 million.
Chief Executive of Intel said that “We closed the third quarter with solid results across all business lines, and we are on track for a record year”.
